The Human Zoo Theatre Company was established in 2013 and has since created 3 critically acclaimed productions that have toured to over 20 venues across the UK. We are currently developing our new touring production 'Giant', commissioned by The Castle, Wellingborough , where we have recently become a resident theatre company.
Since winning the Les Enfants Terribles Award 2014 with our debut production 'The Hive', we have developed a reputation for bringing explosive visual imagination to our original works, including in our outdoor clowning piece 'Monotone Man' commissioned by Lyric Hammersmith, Imagine Watford, GDIF and Latitude. Similarly, our current indoor tour of 'The Girl Who Fell in Love with the Moon', Produced in Association The Castle, Wellingborough, went onto receive 5 and 4 star reviews at EdFringe 2016 and is currently touring throughout the UK and internationally.
The Human Zoo ensemble have come together through non-traditional, alternative training routes, including Fourth Monkey Theatre Company, National Youth Theatre, Roundhouse Circus Skills, Little Angel's Puppetry Foundation and NYFA. We represent a new generation of theatre makers who are finding their voice in the industry via practical training and hands on experience.
The company are very proud to be mentored by Lee Simpson, Co-Artistic Director of the critically acclaimed company 'Improbable', and by Les Enfants Terribles, who supported our show in Edinburgh last year.
We're always looking to collaborate and share with new people and companies, so if you are a designer, puppeteer, student, venue, photographer or you just like the look of the work we do, please get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org.
