Today we started at Little Angel theatre, where we took part in a clowning workshop run by Little Soldier theatre company, as part of Incoming Festival. This workshop included lots of very silly game playing, being a scatty dog and impersonating 'an elephant that hasn't had sex for 6 years'.
We had a fab time, I like it when we train as a company because it helps us look at our work with new eyes and decide how we want to proceed. I hope that we can always find opportunities to develop I this way as a group. I particularly enjoyed the 'No I Didn't' game, which we are hoping to bring to our next Don't Feed The Penguin open mic event as part of the improv section. This workshop reminded me of a few golden things, the need to play, the need to be ok even in 'The Flop', and that if something is funny, do it again. If they laugh, do it more.
The afternoon was spent shoe shopping, the Zoo Animals took a trip into Hammersmith shopping centre to hunt down trainers that could deal with the high impact that comes from bouncing down two trampolines and onto concrete. We now all have shiny new trainers which I think we were a little bit too excited about as we tested them out back at the rehearsal space.
The rest of the afternoon was spent learning more fosse-esque choreography from Libby, and running the full piece up until the point where we had blocked. It was exciting to see that the bare bones of the first half were there in some format. We still have a lotta work ahead of us, but we're getting there, one bounce at a time.
